The Coolest Hotel Decor Maybe Ever: A Review of the Graduate Hilton Eugene

This place gets 7 stars for decor. This was my first time staying at a Graduate property, and I was impressed by the attention to detail. So much attention to detail!

The rooms at the Graduate Hilton Eugene had lots of art, a waffle iron maker lamp, green frat inspired decor. We had a painting of the Simpsons house, a painting of the Wizard of Oz. The wallpaper in the bathroom was Oregon Duck themed. Nightstands were travel trunks. I absolutely loved it.

Rooms were a good size and clean. I also loved that the room keys were famous University of Oregon students.

Dining

As a Hilton Diamond member, I received $15 a night credit for use at the bar or cafe. This was a bit annoying though as I had to use first night credit that night which meant dinner there at the Trophy Room. I had chicken tenders and fries. Both were good. Chris had a burger. He said it was OK. Service, fine but we were the only ones in the restaurant.

I loved the decor in the Trophy Room restaurant. Sports themed. Large place w/ shuffleboard table + foosball.

We had breakfast the next day at Poindexter. Chris had eggs, potato, bacon and toast. I wanted avocado toast but they said it would be 10-15 min as had to dry sundried tomatoes. I didn’t want to hold us up so opted for a bagel and cream cheese ($5). We still ended up waiting 15 min so that was annoying. Bagel good but cream cheese was in one of those squeeze packets and not the easiest to get out.

Additional Room Feedback

As I said, I loved the decor. The room was clean. We had a nice view of the mountains and of Eugene. We were in room 908. One issue though is that it looked like in the bathroom the hook behind the door had been taken off and not replaced. This meant nowhere to hang towels.

Also, while I know upgrades for Diamonds are space-available (and wasn’t expecting that), Hilton assigned in the app a room right next to the elevator (which I have in preferences away from the elevator). I self-selected the room in the app but it was hard to know whether some were better than others or had weird layouts. When I inquired at the front desk, I was told “All the rooms are good.” There wasn’t any option for paid upgrades in the app either. Weird since the hotel seemed pretty empty and not full.

Other Hotel Info

We opted to do self-parking in the garage. It is $22 a night. Valet is available for $29 a night. Note that self-parking is billed through the garage and not the hotel, so you do not earn Hilton points. There is a $10 a night lot across the street, but it’s out in the open so maybe not so secure? We noticed throughout the hotel both days there were golden tickets to be found that you could fill out a valet review for a chance to win dinner and an overnight stay in the future.

Staff we met was friendly.

Overall, the hotel was clean and in a prime downtown Eugene location. It is right next to the Hult Performing Arts Center. If coming to Eugene, I’d recommend hands down, and if I come back, I would stay again.

We paid $359.02 for the two nights (plus parking).
